Tobias Richter to create Special Effects for Star Trek Phase II

Tobias Richter, who is well known in Germany for his excellent Star Trek CGI work (FedCon, etc), will be providing the special effects for the upcoming Phase II episode: "The Child".

After seeing the excellent FedCon Film made by Tobias Richter, Peter Walker (Phase II Germany) called Tobias after the FedCon and asked if he would be interested in providing CGI effects for Phase II. Tobias was already familiar with our episodes and said he was interested in helping out. Peter put Tobais in touch with James Cawley resulting in an agreement to create the special effects for "The Child".

We are proud to have Tobias join our team and look forward to seeing some fantastic special effects created for "The Child" - the first German-American co-production for Phase II.

Tobias Richter runs the company: "The Light Works" in Cologne, Germany.

Blood and Fire had its first screening at the Shore Leave convention In Maryland, USA. Here is how James Cawley described it:

BAF was screened to an audience of 300, who absolutely enjoyed the episode! We received many compliments over the weekend from the folks who were able to attend. No one, Not one voiced any opposition to the subject matter, and most voiced their approval, and loved the character interplay present in the episode between the series regulars. George Takei and Partner Brad Altman had a private screening and were completely blown away and apprieciative to us for producing this episode. They both praised Bobby Rice and Evan Fowler's performances as touching and very moving. I can't wait to be able to share this latest voyage with all of you. Work is progressing and the visual effects are stunning.

With any luck, the episode will make it's debut this fall!

World Enough and Time shown at Herxheimer Science Fiction Days, 25.05.2008 at 11:30 hrs.

Although this event is much smaller than FedCon, over 500 fans attended this event and our showing of World Enough and Time was one of the highlights.

They only had space in their programme for one showing and it was therefore decided to show World Enough and Time at 11:30am on Sunday 25th May.

Online Programme of the Herxheimer Science Fiction Days

Peter Walker attended the event personally and give a short talk about the project before the showing in the conference tent next to the main building. Due to the early time, we had a little trouble with sunlight shining too brightly, but after closing up the enterence, the film was viewable.

The fans loved the show, in particualar a German Star Trek Fan group "USS Trinity" told how they were particually moved by the story and discussed it afterwards for over 20 minutes.

World Enough and Time Wins US TV.Guide Award

"World Enough and Time" (WEaT) was in the catagory Sci-Fi webisodes and was competing for votes against Battelstar Galactica, 4400 and Afterworld.

Here are James Cawley's comments on winning this prestigious award.

I have just learned that TV Guide has announced the winners of their Online Video Awards and I can’t contain my excitement that Star Trek: New Voyages was announced as the winner of the 2007 TV Guide Online Video Awards for “best Sci-Fi Webisodes.” I am still shocked, amazed, and humbled that we were one of the four shows nominated, but to have actually won — what a great thrill. If the actual awards show had not been cancelled, and if I was to have made an award-recipient speech, it would have gone something like this:

“This award is dedicated to everyone who has worked so
hard to make New Voyages a reality and to all the loyal fans
that voted, because none of this could have happened
without you. This is quite an accomplishment, since we
were recognized alongside shows like Battlestar Galactica,
The 4400, and Afterworld. I’m proud of our team and hope
that all of you will enjoy this award as much as I do."
